  2. 1very ripe large tomato, sliced
  3. 1 Tbsbutter, mustard, or ketchup
  4. 1chopped green onion
  5. 5dabs of mayo
  6. Equipment: kitchen knife
  7. Cost: tomato 25 cents, bread 10 cents, onion, butter, spices, mayo 10 cents, lunch 45 cents

    Slice the homemade bread thin

    Slice the tomato same thickness as the bread, make five slices.

    Season with salt and pepper

    As an option, use a big ripe striped organic heirloom tomato, one horizontal slice only, the same thickness as the slice of bread, instead of the five slices of red tomato.

I teach people at the farmers market to grow small scale fruits and vegetables. My grandparents and parents taught me growing, cooking and preserving home grown fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats and fish. I got certified by the University of California Master Gardener Program in 2005. I try to bring out the original flavor of ingredients, then add layers of spices, herbs and flavorings that enhance, not distort the taste. These are the global, organic and vegan family recipes we use.
