I wanted a low fat, yet chocolate cake with super moist texture..... First attempt
Cooking Instructions
- 1
To make your buttermilk; Pour the milk into a liquid measuring cup.
Add an Acid. For every 1 cup of milk, stir in 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar.
Ready to Use! The acid will curdle the milk slightly. Buttermilk On Demand. - 2
Sift each dry ingredient into a big bowl in the order as listed above
- 3
Turn or mix using a whisk or turning stick until combined.
- 4
Gradually add each liquid ingredient while continuously turning in one direction until properly combined to avoid air bubbles.... I made that mistake and ended up with a lot of bubbles... lool
- 5
Pre heat your oven, grease your pan.... and dust with flour.... I have a small tin I use for testing before baking the main batter.... During this time I hit the batter inside the cake pan gently on a slab to remove air bubbles....
- 6
First trial, mistakes noted..... Not turning in one direction causing lots of bubbles. while using lemon juice for buttermilk, remove the pulp as much as you can.
- 7
Final result..... Cake tastes like one..... Though soft like a brownie..... With significantly reduced fat, in this case butter.... Thanks for reading

30 Minute Chocolate Cake (Buttermilk Brownies) 30 Minute Chocolate Cake (Buttermilk Brownies)
This is a moist, delicious cake that you can whip up in a hurry. I originally got it from a cookbook that my mom's cake decorating club, Mile High Cake Decorators, produced back in the 1970s. It was called "Mile High Favorites." All of the members of the club submitted their favorite recipes. I guess you could say it was like an early version of CookPad! This is my go-to cookbook, because it contains many family favs. Pastazia -
