Cinnamon Rolls

This dessert is very famous in the United States but has uncertain origins, with Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands all claiming to be the birthplace of Cinnamon Rolls. It's a type of sweet brioche with cinnamon, typically eaten for breakfast or brunch. For those who love this spice, this dessert will be irresistible. I made it in the shape of a Christmas tree, but their typical shape is rectangular.

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Mix flour, sugar, yeast, warm milk, egg, grated lemon zest, and salt, and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rise covered with plastic wrap for 1 hour.

  2. 2

After 1 hour, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Soften the butter a little and spread it on the dough.

  3. 3

Sprinkle the brown sugar and finally the cinnamon. Roll it up from the longer side to form a log.

  4. 4

Cut the log into slices and shape them as you prefer (I did a tree shape) or the classic rectangle by placing them on a baking sheet. Let them rise for another 30 minutes, covered with plastic wrap.

  5. 5

After rising, bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20 minutes.

  6. 6

You can decorate with simple powdered sugar or make their classic decoration with a water glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a few drops of water.
