Butcher-Style Croquettes

Using heavy cream as a secret ingredient made these croquettes taste like those from a butcher shop.
The origin of this recipe
It was a complete spur-of-the-moment idea. If I hadn't had heavy cream on hand for making a fruitcake, I wouldn't have thought of this recipe. I'm grateful for the coincidence.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and place them unpeeled on a microwave-safe dish. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and microwave until they are soft enough for a skewer to pass through easily. Then peel and mash them with a masher.
- 2
In a frying pan, heat a small amount of oil and sauté the minced onion and ground pork. Once the pork turns white, add soy sauce and sugar. Stir over high heat until the liquid evaporates, being careful not to let it burn.
- 3
Add the mashed potatoes from step 1, the mixture from step 2, and the heavy cream. Mix well with a spatula.
- 4
Shape the mixture from step 3 into your desired form. Coat lightly and evenly with flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Fry in heated vegetable oil until golden brown. You can eat them as is or with your choice of sauce or soy sauce.
- 5
Shape into long, oval forms.
- 6
Great for lunchboxes too.

Our Family Recipe for Croquettes: Western-Style (includes tips) Our Family Recipe for Croquettes: Western-Style (includes tips)
Homemade croquette is my mom's specialty. Nowadays I make it myself but I sometimes have a craving for my mom's croquette. This croquette is different from what I can recall with my mom's version, but I made it Western-style.Make sure to shape the croquettes while the mixture is still warm, since it'll be hard to do so once it's cool. However you can add the breadcrumb coating when the formed croquettes have cooled down completely. Anyone can fry these successfully if they're done a few at a time! For 12 barrel-shaped pieces. I've been eating these croquettes all the time but the ones I make always taste a little different from my mother's. I was going to ask her how to make it, but I haven't still asked. She made it for me recently and I realized that the difference comes from the amount of potatoes used. I think my croquettes are now similar to the ones my mom makes?Make sure to extract the water from the ingredients. Shape the potato mixture while it's still hot and let it cool down before coating and dredging it. Recipe by Donpintan cookpad.japan -
