Sourdough Waffles

Ryan Goodwin @cook_3814251
I have this sourdough starter in my kitchen, and I keep feeding it, so I gotta find ways to use it.
Turns out, sourdough waffles are amazing! You gotta make the batter the day ahead, but that just means less work in the morning.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Melt butter. Whisk in the milk and continue heating to around body temperature.
- 2
Whisk in sourdough starter, eggs, and vanilla.
- 3
Add remaining ingredients. Mix. Cover and set aside for 2-3 hours.
- 4
Then, refrigerate overnight.
- 5
Next morning, throw some on a hot, greasy waffle iron and saddle up.
- 6
You want to cook these until they're good and brown. This will make them crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.

Homemade 'Waffles' Homemade 'Waffles'
I was hungry. I wanted waffles. I did not have a waffle iron. I made my waffles in the SANDWICH MAKER. It came out thin as a cracker. And it was good. And I really liked it. When they're thin it's more like a snack than a breakfast/lunch. I'm hungry again today. And I'll make waffles again. Try it. I promise you'll love it. Chany Buchinger -

Sourdough Bread Sourdough Bread
This is a recipe from King Arthur Flour. It comes with the sourdough starter that can be ordered from them as well as finding it online in their website. It is a very good base recipe for making sourdough breads.Maintaining a proper sourdough starter is definitely a commitment. If you keep starter out at room temperature you will have to feed it every day. If you keep it refrigerated like I do, you will only have to feed it once a week to maintain it however you have to remove from fridge and feed it at least 8 to 12 hours before you want to make bread with it. And with both ways; always feed after use.Making a starter from scratch takes a lot of time before you can use for first time. I suggest getting a few ounces of a established starter from someone who has one already or order it from King Arthur Flour.Sourdoughs have different flavors depending on where you live. The sourdough bread I make in New York will taste different than a sourdough made in San Francisco. chris.zurhorst -

I love Waffles.I love French Toast. Why not combine them both into one yummy sensation?Follow the directions for your waffle iron for this recipe. I added a lot of cinnamon and just a little bit of vanilla extract, that is why this recipe says a dash and a splash. Add both according to your own taste.Enjoy! J.A.B.
