Ingredients

  1. Pears
  2. 4pears, ripe, firm
  3. 2 cupdry red wine
  4. 1/2 cupfreshly squeezed orange juice
  5. 1 tbsporange zest
  6. 1 stickcinnamon
  7. 2cloves
  8. 1/4 cupbrown sugar
  9. Garnish (optional)
  10. 1mint
  11. 1walnuts

Cooking Instructions

    In a 4 quart pot, bring wine, juice and sugar to a boil. Then lower heat to a simmer. Add spices and zest.

    Meanwhile, peel pears but leave stem. Slice small portion from bottom so pears can stand on their own.

    Stand pears in wine. Cover. Simmer for about 30 mins but please be sure not to overcook pears. You want them to remain standing.

    Once pears are done, remove pears from pot and chill in fridge for 2 hours.

  5. 5

    Turn heat back up to make syrup. No more than 15 minutes. Remove from heat and place in fridge.

    Remove pears and syrup from fridge and serve.
