My youngest son , school teacher had made this an assignment for earth week.... had the options to make them if we could, but she also made a video for the class and it was a writing assessment on the steps on how to make them... so we was lucky to have everything on hand to try and make these cookies..... food coloring is something I don’t keep on hand bc I don’t like cooking or baking with it, but I was very lucky to find some hiding in the back of my cabinet. He was excited that we could make these and add pictures to his assessment slide show he had to do if we made them.I love earthly things, we do things all year not just on earth day /earth earth week. While in America, I completed a course in "Culinary Arts: professional baking/pastry skills". I was thinking back on when I made these kinds of cookies with my friend to sell, and decided to write out the recipe. I changed it at little to suit Japanese tastes.Hardening the cut-out cookies in the freezer before baking ensures that the edges stay well-defined and that the cookies don't break while cooking. I know it's not easy if your freezer is already stuffed, but please try to find a way to make room for the cookies, as they will get squished if you layer them. Recipe by Nemunemugorichan
