Goodness gracious, if you want a arm workout then try this. I must admit, in future I will definitely be buying my wrappers because this is a ton of work.
Cooking Instructions

Sift flour. Dissolve salt in water and then gradually mix the flour and water together.

Once mixed, leave it covered for 15 minutes. Then start to knead till you get a smooth dough.

Cover and allow to rest for 30 minutes minimum.

Cut into sections then roll out the dough till it’s close to paper thin. Then cut out circles. Remember to keep parts you’re not working with covered so it doesn’t dry up.

Once you have your wrappers, you may use them immediately or freeze them. All done 😋.

Homemade dumpling wrapper
This dumpling wrapper is really not an exact recipe to use the measuring cups because it’s really depends on the brand of the flour, humidity in the air ect. If you don’t have a scale, use the spoon method to measure out 3 cups of flour. You’ll also need about just nearly 1 cup of very warm water


Steamed Prawn Dumplings
For a long time I wanted to cook this ‘Steamed Prawn Dumplings’ but I never tried because I believed that I could not get the ingredients. On the other day I received a request for the recipe, then I did a little bit of research. I discovered that the wrappers can be made with a flour called Wheat Starch that is widely available from Asian grocery stores.Wheat Starch is different from Wheat Flour and it’s a type of starch. Some people use Corn Starch instead of Wheat Starch.My first two attempts were not successful. The wrappers got torn and I just couldn’t wrap. Now I know that’s because I left the wrappers alone for too long. This dough needs to be used straight away. And also you must keep the dough moist while you are working. Cover it with damp cloth!Once you know theses things, making ‘Steamed Prawn Dumplings’ from scratch is actually easier than you expect.


Brocolli and Dumpling Soup
One day my Mom gave me some minced chicken that's been already seasoned for me to make shumai, together with the wrappers. But I never made them, I made this instead 😄😄 sorry Mom, but at least nothing wasted. This was yummy, eta this by itself or with some hot rice, up to you, hope you like it!

Wild chives boiled dumplings
When we talk about Chinese dumplings, we are usually referring to boiled dumplings. Nyonya Rice Dumpling
#mycookbookDuanwu or Dragon Boat or Rice Dumplings Festival is just a few days away. As far as I can remember I made a rice dumpling recipe 2 years ago. Quite frankly, I am not a fan of rice dumplings. I know it is weird for an Asian to dislike rice. I still prefer pasta, noodles and bread over rice; it is just not my go-to carbs.Anyway, I actually have this open-faced rice dumpling idea since 2019 (my health was in shambles back in 2019 and I am glad that I am starting to gain control 2020). Even tho 2020 proves to be quite a challenge thus far. I am still grateful that I am alive and be able to execute on this concept of mine. Do not worry, I will also include the traditional method down in the directions below.In closing, my grandma used to make this nyonya version of rice dumplings by the hundreds. She would give all her neighbors and anyone who passed by during this festive season. I would sit quietly in her kitchen and watched her wrap the dumplings tirelessly. I can feel her joy. So, making this dish is like paying homage to her and every bite is reminiscing nostalgic memories. I really hope you will give this recipe a try.


No Fuss Fried Dumplings

Making the round shape depends on how you 'drop ' in oil ,by scooping some in the hand as a spoon!its an art in itself alhamdulillah and yiu can master it to make perfect rounds,here they needed little more work ,esp if you get the consistancy good its very easily achieved but if too thick or too watery it harder to maintain a round shape ,and overall barter consistancy you need to beat the barter dough well until it is good , also if oil not hot enof or barter not proofed ,will be some of challenges here as these will drink so much oil and be heavy and oily, also trying not to over cook the syrup And getting it just right inshaallah

Pork & Ginger Steamed Dumplings
#steamedI’m documenting this recipe as part of the cooking techniques challenge, however I didn’t get it quite right. I think I wrapped them too thickly because the wrappers became quite thickly gelatinous after steaming. I used rice paper as I needed them to be gluten free, but perhaps it was the wrong choice? 🤔 The filling was delicious and we ate them anyway! If anyone has any advice on what I could have done better, I’d be keen to hear it please 🙏

These Dumplings are really easy to make, and I add them to Rice Soup, Miso Soup, soy sauce flavoured Clear Soup and Nabe (Hot Pot) dishes. Because my children love them so much, I think I should write down the recipe, so that they can one day make them by themselves. Today I added the Dumplings to a Clear Soup, but you can add them to any soup you want to.

Gyoza (Japanese Dumplings)
These are an incredibly flexible dish, which can be served as a starter or as part of a main course. The ingredients can be easily changed depending upon what you have available or what you are in the mood for. In this recipe I used prawns (shrimp) but this can be easily swapped out for another filling like tofu or pork. I used a pre-made pack of dumpling wrappers which you can buy in any asian supermarket.

Several years ago, I came across ‘Pierogi’, Polish dumplings, at a local farmer’s market and I instantly fell in love with them. Similar foods can be found in many different countries. Japan has ‘Gyoza’. Italy has ‘Ravioli’ and ‘Tortellini’. Ukraine has ‘Varenyky’. A variety of fillings can be used for ‘Varenyky’. My favourite is definitely Mashed Potato.
