Stir-fried Harusame & Pork
The other day, I cooked ‘Stir-fried Harusame with Prawns & Lettuce’ without rehydrating Dry Harusame Noodles, and it worked very well. So, I cooked this dish in the same method. It is basically stir-fried Pork Mince and Vegetables. After I seasoned the stir-fry, I added Sauce and Dry Harusame Noodles to the pan. It didn’t take long for Dry Harusame Noodles to get soft. This dish can be enjoyed with Rice, OR as a noodle dish.

Stir-fried Pork, Cabbage & Egg

'Somen' & Pork Stir-Fry
I love South East Asian spicy flavours, but I sometimes need the delicate Japanese flavour that is so gentle and soothing. ‘Somen (Japanese thin noodles)’s texture goes well with this light flavoured stir-fry. If you don’t have ‘Somen’ noodles, Rice Vermicelli or very thin Spaghetti can be used instead.

New Year's pork chow mein with crispy noodles
It's one of my family's Filipino traditions to serve noodles on special occasions. So events such as birthdays and New Year's were always greeted with a big plate of long noodles, piled with plenty of veggies and meat. And yes, the noodles must be long and loaded with good stuff, as the dish signifies long life and prosperity. Sending out a plate of sparsely adorned macaroni would definitely send the wrong message. Anyway, it's with this tradition in mind that I made chow mein as part of our New Year's Eve dinner. Special thanks to Marion Grasby, who's become my go-to resource for all foods Asian and from whom large parts of this recipe are lifted. For my version, I chose to go with velveted pork (I'd normally go with shrimp but a family member has a seafood allergy) and a variety of veggies. Feel free to replace the veggies as you like. Just be sure to give the tougher veggies a head start over the softer ones. And Happy New Year everyone!

Stirfry with Fried Noodles
I sometimes make this Stirfry with noodles. Today I bought one pack of sprouts and I use leftover vegetables, seafood and meat in my freezer and refrigerator. #stirfry#noodles#KitchenWordsearch#useeverypart

Basic Stir-fried Noodles
‘Yakisoba’, Japanese stir-fried noodles, is seasoned with ‘Yakisoba Sauce’, that can be made with Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce and Oyster Sauce. Sometimes, I prefer the flavour similar to the Chinese takeaway’s stir-fried noodles. Today I used Soy Sauce and Oyster Sauce only. I added a little Asian Chicken Bouillon Powder, and it tasted just like takeaway’s stir-fried noodles.

Stir-fried Black Fungus, Pork & Egg
Today I want to share a very simple stir-fry recipe. If you love Black Fungus, you would enjoy this dish. You can use Chicken instead of Pork for this dish. When I use Eggs for a stir-fry, I most likely cook it first separately with a generous amount of Oil, then return it at the end of cooking process. I believe it is the best way.

Spring green and pork stir-fry
This dish is spired by Thai Stir fry dishes such as the famous morning glory stir-fry or Chinese broccoli stir-fry with crispy pork. I am warning you that this dish is spicy. However, you can cook it less spicy by reducing the amount of chillies. #onerecipeonetree

Pork & Vegetables Champroo (Chanpurū)
‘Champroo’ (Chanpurū) is an Okinawan stir fry dish. The Okinawan word ‘Champroo’ means ‘a mixture of various items’, and you can stir-fry any Vegetables you have. But, Champroo’s essential ingredients are Okinawan Tofu and Eggs. Well… we can’t get Okinawan Tofu outside Japan, so I use Firm Tofu. Bitter Melon is a popular Vegetable for Champroo, but I have never used it because I can’t eat it. The unique part of this stir-fry is the Eggs that are added at the very end of cooking.

Sir-fried Rice Vermicelli
I used to cook this dish using already seasoned Dry Rice Vermicelli in Japan. A company called ‘Kenmin Foods’ produces delicious Rice Vermicelli products. I recently saw them on the internet and I was nostalgic. I tried to cook the dish using commonly available Dry Rice Vermicelli. I seasoned it simply and the result was very similar to what I used to cook. This is a quick & easy & nutritious dish.

Simmered Hairy Melon & Pork
One day about 20 years ago, I was walking on a street in Melbourne with Liana, my sister in law, and my daughter who was very young then. In front of a greengrocer, a vegetable caught my eyes. ‘Hairy Melon? That’s a unique name for a vegetable. Is it hairy?’ Liana touched it and said, ‘Oh! It is hairy.’ Then my young daughter also touched it and said, ‘Feels like Granny’s leg.’ Liana and I burst into laughter. Since then, the vegetable called Hairy Melon has become well known among my family members. It is suitable for stews and soups.

Stir-fried Beef & Iceberg Lettuce with Oyster Sauce
Leftover Iceberg Lettuce has been sitting in the fridge for a while. I didn’t want to make a salad as it was too cold. I wanted to cook something warm and more comforting. So, I stir-fried it with Beef. When I stir-fry Beef, I often use Oyster Sauce to season it. Iceberg Lettuce retains its crunchiness even after cooked, and it was delicious with Garlic and Oyster Sauce.

Zucchini & Pork Spicy Stir-fry
Zucchini is an easy-to-grow vegetable and we always have too much harvest. It is a challenge for me to cook them in different ways. Zucchini is not an Asian vegetable but I like them cooked with soy sauce. This is a typical stir-fry dish and starch-coated pork and crunchy zucchini are beautiful in this spicy sauce.

Stir-fried Pork & Somen (OR Capellini)

Simmered Pork & Wombok with Harusame Noodles
‘Harusame’ are the noodles made from Potato starch or Mung Bean starch. Today I used very thin type that is often called Bean Vermicelli or Thread Noodles.
