"Batibasa" is a traditional cooking technique of Odisha where all ingredients are mixed up in a bowl known as "Bati" and cooked on very low flame. Ingredients

  • 2medium sized potatoes chopped
  • 1/2 cupSome fried badi
  • 2Ambula (dried mango)
  • To tasteSalt as per taste
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 2green chilli
  • 1 tbspMustard paste
  • For mustard paste:
  • 3 tspmustard seeds
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  • 1green chilli
  • 1/2 inchginger
  • 8-9 clovesgarlic
  • 2 tspmustard oil
  • 2 tspchopped coriander leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    First of all prepare the mustard paste and keep it aside.

  2. 2

    Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.

  3. 3

    Put it on the gas stove by covering a lid in low flame. Don't stir it.

  4. 4

    After 10-12 minutes it becomes ready.

  5. 5

    Serve it with steamed rice by garnishing with some chopped coriander leaves.
