Combine the masa harina, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Gradually add warm water and mix until you have a soft, not too sticky dough. Heat oil over medium-low heat in a nonstick skillet if possible.

If needed, rub a little oil on your hands to keep the dough from sticking. Shape the dough into gorditas as shown 👇 and place them in the skillet over medium-low heat.

Once they start to brown, carefully flip them. When browned on both sides, transfer to a paper towel to drain. They're ready to eat.

This dough tastes great—you can eat the gorditas plain, savory, or sweet. I like to fill two with beans, cheese, lettuce, and salsa, and one with jam and caramel sauce—they're delicious! My son likes his with caramel sauce, chocolate milk powder, and cinnamon.

You can make them sweet or savory to your taste. I usually use 3 tablespoons of sugar and half a tablespoon of salt. They turn out crispy on the outside and soft inside, not raw. Good luck—I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
