Ingredients

2-5 minutes
3 servings
  • 5medium sized yellow / white onions
  • Bowlice water
  • 2 cupsall-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cupscorn flour
  • 1/1/2tbs baking powder
  • 1/1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper
  • 1/4 tspCayenne powder
  • 2 cupsCold soda water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Steps

2-5 minutes
  1. 1

    Peel, wash and chop your onions into thin rings.

  2. 2

    Soak your onion rings in ice water for 10 min.

  3. 3

    Remove onion rings from water and pat them dry.

  4. 4

    Whisk together all your dry ingredients in a bowl.

  5. 5

    Whisk in your soda water

  6. 6

    Let the batt sit for 10 min

  7. 7

    Heat up enough vegetable oil in a pan to cover it halfway.

  8. 8

    Dip your onion ring in the batter one at a time.

  9. 9

    Drip off the excess batter and place into hot cooking oil to deep fry

  10. 10

    Only fry a few at a time for the perfect crisp onion rings.
    Fry for 3-5 min until golden brown and firm.

  11. 11

    Remove from oil and place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
    Enjoy hot with some ketchup or ranch.
