Dates Wrapped in Bacon

My husband was whining about how he ate this dish at a restaurant and how it tasted fabulous , so I wanted to try recreating it. He said that the dish was $7 with 4 dates each, but it was much more inexpensive when I made them myself. I love making cafe dishes at home.

Fold up the edges of the aluminum foil as if making a shallow box. This is because the bacon gives out a lot of excess oil.
I usually bake them for 15 minutes in a oven without any preheating. Take them out before you end up overcooking the bacon. You don't want it to harden.

Ingredients

  1. 10Dried dates
  2. 10half-rashers Bacon (half slices)
  3. Blue cheese

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Please use dried dates that you can get in the dried fruits section of your grocery store.

  2. 2

Make cuts in the middle and remove the seeds.

  3. 3

Chop up the blue cheese into adequate sizes to pack inside the dates.

  4. 4

The left ones in this photo are already packed with cheese. You don't need to close them up completely.

  5. 5

Wrap up each of the dates with half a slice of bacon. Secure each wrap with a toothpick.

  6. 6

This is how it appears from the side. Make sure to leave a decent gap in-between the dates so that the bacon will be cooked properly.

  7. 7

Place the secured dates on a double-layered aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes in a 180℃ oven.

  8. 8

The cheese inside the dates are melting, and they smell really good.

  9. 9

Remove the toothpicks and dish them up.
