Ingredients

50-55 minutes including prep
4 servings
  • 1 (300 g)tin Condensed Chicken Soup
  • 350-400 gcooked chicken, chopped (I used leftover chicken thighs but you could buy in ready-cooked chicken)
  • 1 (500 g)pack Jus-Rol chilled shortcrust pastry
  • Butter
  • Plain flour

Steps

50-55 minutes including prep
  1. 1

    Pre-heat the oven to Gas Mark 6 or electric equivalent (Circotherm 170C).

  2. 2

    Empty the condensed soup into a bowl, add the chicken and mix together.

    Lightly grease a pie dish with butter. Divide the pastry 2/3:1/3 and dust work surface with flour.

  4. 4

    Roll out the larger piece of pastry and line the pie dish. Fill with the chicken mix.

  5. 5

    Roll out the smaller piece of pastry and cover the pie, sealing the edges. Make three small slots in pastry lid to allow steam to escape.

    Cook pie in pre-heated oven for 40-45 minutes.

  7. 7

    TIP: if you’ve any pastry trimmings surplus, use them to make a jam pasty/tart or two in the same oven. #WastenotWantnot

    Serve piping hot with your choice of accompaniments. We had potatoes, carrots and beans today with a little butter on them.
