First, in a suitable pot, add the oil and butter. Place over heat and fry the onion slices. For extra crispiness, toss the onions with 2 tablespoons of flour and a pinch of salt before frying.

Remove the fried onions from the pot and place them on a plate lined with paper towels.

Add the rice, cooked lentils, salt, and sugar to the pot. Stir well, then add the water. Once it comes to a boil and the water is absorbed by the rice, reduce the heat, stir again, and let it cook until done.

Once cooked, serve topped with the fried onions. Enjoy it with arugula, turnips, and some pickles. It’s really delicious and easy—give it a try!
