This sweet is usually cooked for ugadi (South Indian new year)
Steps

Add chana dal along with 3 cups of water and cook it in a cooker for until 3 wistles.
Make sure that dal is not over cooked - 2
Once dal is cooked, add jaggery and mix the dal and jaggery in a mixer

Add cardamom powder and ghee to the mixer

Make sure that the dal mixer is soft. Should be able to make balls from the mixure

Dough prep: In a bowl add all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt and mix with water. Make sure that dough is soft. Once the dough is prepared, add 1 tbsp oil to it and keep it aside for 1hour

Take a plastic cover to make the bobbattu ready

Take a lemon sized dough and dal mixer
Press the dough flat with hand, place the dal mixer ball into the flat dough cover it on all sides and press gently - 8
Place pressed dough on tawa and cook on both sides with ghee on medium flame
