One of the most traditional Japanese dishes and my favorite is Tonkatsu. It is also commonly known here in Uk for Katsu Curry, which is a curry rice with Tonkatsu.

The way how to make outside bread crumb crisp varies and every home and restaurants do differently.

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 800 gpork shoulder
  2. 2eggs
  3. Plain flour
  4. Panko bread crumb
  5. Salt and pepper
  6. Sunflower oil
  7. Side
  8. cabbages
  9. Tonkatsu sauce
  10. Karashi, a Japanese mustard

Cooking Instructions

    Lightly salt and pepper first, slit in the meat, and pat the flour on top.

    Put into whisk eggs, then put Panko on top. You might want to repeat this process.

    Deep fry at 170-180 celsius for 5-6 min.

  4. 4

    Use Tonkatsu sauce and eat with a lot of cabbage and vegetables. Dip lightly with Karashi, a Japanese type mustard.

@Stella_T Hello! I couldn't resist joining the fun convo going on here - happy to know your son is a Tonkatsu fan 😍 I have a Tonkatsu sauce recipe... in Italian. Is worcestershire sauce readily accessible in Greece? Otherwise Tonkatsu should also go well with lemon juice + salt, or whole-grain mustard + honey.
