Pomfret fry is a childhood favourite food of mine. Many a times my Late Mom would cook varied recipes with Pomfret fish but fry was always my favourite. Her recipe of frying was always adding red chilli powder while smearing the fish and deep fry. It tasted heavenly then also and it’ tastes heavenly now too

Wash the fish well and make insertions on the body of the fish

Smear with red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and set aside for 5 mins

In a wok heat mustard oil and add the fish. Fry on medium flame. Be careful as oil splutters while frying.
Tip: use 1/2 tsp mustard oil to smearing the fish and oil wouldn’t splutter during frying

Fry one side for 2 mins and gently flip sides. Set aside
- 5
Plate and garnish with lime wedges, onion rings, curry leaves and green chilies. Enjoy
