Ham and Red Cabbage Salad

I recreated the salad that's sold at the deli counter in a certain department store food hall. I think that they use red onion rather than regular onions, and chicken rather than ham, but I adapted it to use ingredients that I can easily get at our neighborhood supermarket.
If the salad is lacking in tartness, add a little lemon juice or vinegar. You can use any type of ham you like, but I recommend pastrami. Recipe by r2230

Steps
- 1
Cut up the vegetables. Cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Slice the red cabbage about 5 mm thick. (You can use regular cabbage instead. I use red cabbage for color.)
- 3
Slice the lemon thinly and quarter.
- 4
Slice the onion and carrot thinly. (A vegetable slicer is handy.) If the onion is very strong, soak it in water for a while.
- 5
Drain the onion well. Toss together.
- 6
Swirl the olive oil over, and add salt and pepper. Krazy Salt is good too! Mix it all up and it's done.
