I usually make Tayir Sadam /Curd Rice at home at least once or twice a week. This preparation is a bit different with some additional vegetables added just for crunch and taste. I just tried this way of making the curd rice for a change. My family’s favorite recipe and it is very light on your tummy. Perfect on a hot summer day.

Steps

10 minutes
  1. 1

Firstly wash the rice and pressure cook it and then keep it aside.

  2. 2

Then in the meantime keep the other ingredients ready.

  3. 3

Take a Kadhai and heat it, put oil and when hot add mustard seeds, split urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, chopped green chilies & ginger. Sauté well for a few minutes.

  4. 4

Then take a spatula and mash the pressure cooker rice and add it into the Kadhai. Put salt. Mix everything well. Turn off the heat.

  5. 5

Then let it cool down completely.

  6. 6

Now take the thick curd and whisk it and pour it into the rice, if the curd is very sour add the milk and mix everything carefully.

  7. 7

Now add the chopped tomatoes, cucumber cubes, coriander leaves, and add the pomegranate pearls.

  8. 8

Serve immediately with a pickle of your choice.

  9. 9

Tips:- You can add grated carrots also here if you like it. The rice should cool down completely, or else if you add in the curd it will split. If you don’t want to add the chopped tomatoes & cucumber you can skip it also. The curd should be fresh.
