Masala Sheem Bhaji

Green bean is one of the most loved, easily grown and evergreen winter vegetables. This flat or broad hyacinth beans called Sheem in Bengal has its specific taste in winter. The sheem used here is a thinner variety of the flat beans which is only available during this winter time in Kolkata. This is not a curry recipe and it better to eat as a side dish as it is stir fried.

Take 2 tbsp mustard oil in kadai, add 1/4 tsp nigella seeds,add chopped onions, chopped red bell pepper,1/4 tsp ginger paste and stir fry.

Add chopped tomatoes, salt to taste, turmeric powder, cumin and coriander powder, green chillies and stir fry till cooked.

Now mix the 2 tbsp gram flour or besan in 3 tbsp water with no lumps. Add in the kadai on top of the vegetables and add a drizzle of mustard oil on top. Keep stirring till the besan becomes crispy and mixes with the vegetables and your Sheem Bhaji is ready.
