Hot Chocolate also known as hot cocoa is a hot drink prepared from milk, cocoa powder, chocolate shavings and sweatner. Hot chocolate is thicker in consistency. Iy may be topped with whipped cream, chocolate flakes , marshmellows etc.
Hot chocolate is consumed throughout the world and multiple variations are prepared. Powdered hot chocolate pre mixes are also available in market. History says that the first chocolate drink believed to have been created by the Maya around 2500-3000 years ago. A cocoa drink was an essential part of Aztec culture by 1400AD. They referred to it as chocolate. The drink became popular in Europe after being introduced from the Mexico and has undergone multiple changes since then.

Ingredients

15 minutes
2 persons
  • 4 cupfull cream milk
  • 1/4 cupcream (optional)
  • 1/2 cupdark chocolate chips (chopped cooking chocolate)
  • 1/4 cupsugar
  • 1/4 cupunsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tspvanilla essence

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

    In a thick bottom pan, add milk, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, vanilla essence and whisk together.

  2. 2

    Turn on the heat, place the pan and bring it to boil, after one boil turn the heat on medium to slow and stir continuously till chocolate is fully melted and incorporated. At this time, add cream if you wish. Adding cream made our hot chocolate thick and rich.

  3. 3

    Turn off the heat, when it reaches to your desired temparature, serve with your favourite toppings.
