My mom gave me my grandma's Apple Betty recipe. One time I was making it with my dad and we didn't have enough bread for the whole thing so we used oats instead! We made it into Apple Betty Crisp, with bread crumbs on the bottoms and oats on the top!

Ingredients

  1. 3/4 cupbutter
  2. 3 cupsbread crumbs
  3. 6Granny Smith apples
  4. 3/4 cupbrown sugar
  5. 1 tablespoonlemon juice
  6. 1/4 teaspoonnutmeg
  7. 1 tablespooncinnamon
  8. 1 cupsoats
  9. 1/2 cuphot water

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

    Melt 1/2 cup butter with the bread crumbs on the stove.

    Cut and peel the apples into a bowl.

    Add lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon to the bowl.

    In a new bowl mix the oats, the remaining 1/4 cup butter and the remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar.

    In a 9 x 11 baking pan spread the buttered bread crumbs and pour on the warm water.

    Layer on the apple mix and then the oat mix.

    Bake for 30 minutes at 375 F.
