Steps
- 1
The frozen charcoal-grilled yakitori I ordered just arrived. This package contains 50 skewers, each weighing 35 grams. That’s a lot!
- 2
This product contains very few food additives, which is reassuring.
- 3
Here’s how it looks inside. Even frozen, it has a nice charcoal aroma.
- 4
Line a skillet with parchment paper for easy cleanup, but this step is optional.
- 5
Arrange the frozen yakitori skewers in the skillet. No need to preheat the pan. Keep it simple!
- 6
Drizzle sake evenly over the yakitori. This helps keep them juicy and brings out a great aroma!
- 7
Cover the skillet with a lid.
- 8
Now turn on the heat. Set to medium. Keep it at medium heat until they’re done.
- 9
Wait about 2 minutes. Adjust the time as needed based on your stove to avoid burning.
- 10
Remove the lid. The sake should be bubbling and smell wonderful.
- 11
Flip the yakitori skewers. They won’t be browned yet at this stage.
- 12
Cook for another 3 minutes. If they start to burn, lower the heat.
- 13
Flip the skewers again. They should be starting to brown nicely.
- 14
Cook this side for about 2 more minutes.
- 15
Flip once more. They should have a perfect golden color now!
- 16
Finish by cooking for about 1 more minute.
- 17
They’re done! The charcoal aroma is just like at a restaurant.
- 18
Plate the yakitori and serve. Thanks to the sake, they’re juicy and aromatic. They’re delicious as-is since they’re already well-seasoned.
