Grandma's Potato Soup

I'll admit to having a soft place in my heart for soup. Even when it's 100+ degrees here, I like a big bowl of soup for dinner. It's comforting, you know? It makes me feel like a kid again, and that goes doubly for when I make this soup. My mother perfected the recipe and it's an oft-requested dish 'round these parts.
