Ingredients

10 servings
  • 3 cupcake flour - sifted
  • 3 1/2 tspbaking powder
  • 1/2 cupbutter
  • 1/2 cupmilk and 1/2 cup water, mixed
  • 1 1/2 cupsugar
  • 1 tspvanilla extract for (lemon cake use 1 1/2 tsp lemon extract)
  • 4egg whites, beaten stiffly
  • 1/2 cupmini chocolate chips (for chocolate chip cake)

    Add baking powder and sugar to the shifted cake flour and sift together 3 times.

  2. 2

    Cut butter into pieces and blend with flour using pastry blender.

  3. 3

    Add milk and water mixture, sugar and flavoring.

  4. 4

    Beat until smooth.

  5. 5

    Fold in egg whites.

  6. 6

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

  7. 7

    Bake in greased and floured 9x13 inch pan for 25-30 minutes, or 2 round cake pans for 20-25 minutes.
