Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake (ALVB)

Sift together the first five dry ingredients.

Cream shortening and sugar, then add vanilla and eggs (one egg at a time) mixing well.

Add dry ingredients, alternately with water.

Add sauerkraut and mix thoroughly.

Pour into well-greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in a preheated 375° F oven for 35 minutes. Can be baked in two 8 inch round cake pan for about 25 minutes.
