Steps
- 1
Cut onion ~½ inch from root, remove root, split into thin wedges and finely chop the remaining leafy part. Add base portion and a little of the chopped onion to 2 ¼ cup water, bring to boil. While waiting, slice mushroom (0.1-0.3 cm)
- 2
Wait ~1 minute after boiling water with onion, add noodles (broken or whole). Cook for 3 minutes stirring occasionally. **note: it may be my OCD, but I like to flip the noodles before they separate
- 3
Pick up a noodle and squeeze to check doneness. If it breaks with slight force, remove from heat and pour off water to preferred noodle:broth ratio.
- 4
Return to heat and pour in packet. Leave for ~30-45 seconds.
- 5
Immediately pour into bowl with sliver of butter, lightly stir. Dump in the remaining green onion and mushroom slices, and enjoy!!
