There are always so many ways to cook one dish.. depending on tastes and cultures.. this is our simple Punjabi home recipe we enjoy making Daal Maash. Hope everyone likes it. It's simple and it's tasty.

In a wok add the oil and add sliced onion and cook until the onion is light brown.

Then add the tomatoes and cook for a minute.

Then add the lentil, chopped ginger garlic and the masalas and mix well.

Then add some water (about 1 glass) and allow to cook on low flame until the lentil is cooked well.

You can add water if required. I added some more water and cooked for about 40 minutes. It always varies according to the nature of the lentils.

Finally garnish with some fresh mint and coriander leaves, julienne cut ginger and serve with salad, raita and roti.
