This year i have made a resolution to eat more green leafy vegetables and fruits... and i start my year with the wonderfully nutritious and healthy daal which is made with bathua saag... easily available during winter season, so i think all my cookpad family members should try this recipe once.
Bathua saag is loaded with vitamins and minerals and antioxidants... it also keeps our liver healthy and is a good sauce of amino acids too..

Bathua saag is loaded with vitamins and minerals and antioxidants... it also keeps our liver healthy and is a good sauce of amino acids too..

Wash and clean the leaves and then finely chop spinach. (For bathua saag we do not require the stem, so please pick only the leaves..). Wash and soak moong masoor dal for 15 mins.

In a pressure cooker add spinach, bathua saag, moong masoor dal, salt, turmeric, 1 sliced onions, 5 garlic cloves and 1 cup water. Mix everything well, cover the lid and cook for 3 whistles.

When the pressure is released from the cooker, then use a wooden hand blender to mix the dal.

Tadka: Heat ghee in a pan add chopped garlic and onions fry till golden then add hing and chilli powder.. stir and add to the dal when it is hot. Serve hot bhathua saag daal with roti or rice.
