Steps
- 1
Lightly dry roast the sesame seeds. Set aside.
- 2
Dry roast peanuts. Allow them to cool. Crush both with a rolling pin or just whizz once in a blender. They need to be coarsely crushed not finely powdered.
- 3
Add the roasted sesame seeds, the nutmeg, cardamom and the dry ginger powders to the roasted peanut powder. Mix well and set aside.
- 4
Take a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee, add and melt the jaggery into it.
- 5
Add the ready sesame-peanut mixture and mix in gradually, stir well. Take off heat.
- 6
In a large Thali /steel plate, pour in the hot contents, i. e. the peanut - sesame-jaggery mix into it.
- 7
Rease your palm with some melted ghee and pat in hot mixture into the Thali and spread uniformly.
- 8
Make cuts with a knife over the mixture, either in square or diamond shapes
- 9
Now sprinkle grated fresh or dry coconut on top. Pat in gently. Leave to set uncovered until firm.
- 10
Remove the set pieces and serve. You are supposed to say, ' Til Gud Kha ani Gode Gode Bola' while serving, as we do in Maharashtra, which means...Eat the til good and speak sweet words.
