Beef Goulash (Vietnamese Style)

Peel and cut the potatoes and carrots into cubes or your preferred shape. Cut the onions into wedges. Cut the beef into 1-inch cubes. Marinate the beef with pre-mixed seasoning or make your own (seasoning powder, salt, pepper, a pinch of sugar, garlic, shallots, paprika).

Add about 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to a hot pot, sauté the beef until it is browned, then add water to cover. Simmer until the beef is tender. I use a pressure cooker for faster cooking.

When the beef is just cooked, add the carrots and potatoes. Adjust the seasoning with more water if needed, then add the onions and bell pepper. Onions cook quickly, so add them last.

If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with a little water and add it to the pot. Stir until the sauce thickens.
