Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsmasa (about 250 grams)
  2. 1 1/2 cupssugar (about 300 grams)
  3. 2 cupssour milk (about 480 ml) or buttermilk
  4. Sour cream and cream cheese, to taste
  5. 1/4 cup (1/2 stick)butter (about 57 grams)
  6. 2eggs
  7. 1/2 cupshredded cheese (about 60 grams)
  8. 2 teaspoonsbaking powder
  9. Optional: shredded coconut, if desired

Steps

  1. 1

    Blend the sour milk (or buttermilk), eggs, butter, sour cream, and cream cheese in a blender until smooth.

    In a separate bowl, mix the remaining ingredients together.

    Pour the blended mixture into the bowl and stir until everything is well combined. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens.

  4. 4

    Once thickened, pour the mixture into a greased and floured baking pan. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 40 minutes. Broil briefly to brown the top, if desired.
