Ingredients

  • 2.2 lbsfish fillets, sliced
  • To marinate the fish:
  • 1 cuplemon juice (about 240 ml)
  • 1 tablespoonminced garlic
  • Salt
  • To coat the fish:
  • 1 cupall-purpose flour (about 120 grams)
  • 1 teaspooncumin
  • 1 teaspoonmixed spices
  • 1 teaspoonblack pepper
  • Salt
  • For the rice:
  • 3 cupsrice (about 600 grams)
  • 2onions, sliced into wedges
  • Aromatic spices (cinnamon stick, bay leaves, black peppercorns, cardamom pods)
  • 1 tablespoonmixed spices
  • Pinchcumin and black pepper
  • For the serving sauce:
  • 1/2 cuptahini (about 120 ml)
  • 1/4 cuplemon juice (about 60 ml)
  • 2 tablespoonschopped parsley
  • Pinchsalt
  • For garnish:
  • Roasted mixed nuts

Steps

    Wash the fish fillets well, slice them, and set aside. In a bowl, mix the marinade ingredients (lemon juice, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt). Add the fish pieces, stir to coat, and let marinate for 1 hour. Drain the fish well. Mix the coating ingredients together, coat the fish fillets evenly, and fry in plenty of oil until golden brown.

    In a pot over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the onions until they turn brown. Add the spices and aromatic ingredients, stir well, then add 6 cups of water (about 1.4 liters). Cover and bring to a boil. Strain the broth and use it to cook the rice. Rinse the rice well, add it to the broth with salt, cover, and cook over low heat until done.

    Mix the sauce ingredients together until smooth.

    Serve the rice alongside the fish, drizzle with the sauce as desired, and top with roasted nuts.
