This recipe is one of my chilhood favorite snack. I prefer room temperature when I eat it. It is very simple to make food for a heavy snack best goes with tea or coffee ( I prefer black coffee for this one). So what is Tutong? It's the sweetrice, sticky ruce or what we called glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and brown sugar.
The toasted mung beans brings the distinctive flavor that makes the difference among the other sweetrice dessert.Hope you try and like it.

Ingredients

5 servings
  • 1 1/2 cupglutinous rice
  • 1 cupbrown sugar
  • 1 pcpandan leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  • 1/4 cuptoasted mung beans (crushed)
  • 2 cupsor 1 can coconut milk
  • 5 cupswater

Steps

    Toast mung beans over medium-high heat

  2. 2

    Combine water and coconut milk. Simmer for 2 minutes.Add pandan leaf, tiasted beans and glutinous rice.Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.

    When the rice is almost cook add brown sugar and salt. Cook until thick.

    Cool complete.

    Enjoy.
