Steps
- 1
Wash the Basmati Rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- 2
Soak the chickpeas overnight or 8hours and boil them for 3 whistles.
- 3
In a boiling pot, add a glass of water and add in the spices. Boil the water with the spices until the water reduced half and stain the water.
- 4
Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker, add in the chopped onions and fry until it turns brown.
- 5
Then add in the ginger garlic paste, slit green chillies, garam masala, salt and give a good mix.
- 6
Now add the chickpeas and the Rice. Mix well with the onions
- 7
Add the stained water from the spices. If this water is not enough, further add more water. (For 200grams of rice I used 400 grams of water)
- 8
Check for salt. Cover the pressure cooker and cook in high flame for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes place the pressure cooker on top of a dosa tawa and cook for low flame for 10 minutes.
- 9
Open the cooker, Hot and delicious chickpeas pulao is ready. You can serve with onion raita.
