Sevai Upma / Vermicelli Upma Recipe

Sevai Upma is very popular South Indian breakfast. It is a quick and healthy breakfast that can be cook easily in 20 mins with simple ingredients available. In this recipe I have used homemade wheat sevai. Thin vermicelli is easily available in super markets.

Sevai Upma is very popular South Indian breakfast. It is a quick and healthy breakfast that can be cook easily in 20 mins with simple ingredients available. In this recipe I have used homemade wheat sevai. Thin vermicelli is easily available in super markets.
Steps

Heat pan or kadai and roast the sevai/ vermicelli for 3 to 4 mins until slightly golden. Transfer it to a plate and keep aside.

Now heat 1 tbsp oil in the same kadhai add cumin seeds and mustard seeds, after spluttering add curry leaves and sauté. Now add chopped onion and sauté till it turns translucent.

Add chopped green chilli and green peas and sauté for 3 to 4 mins. Now add turmeric powder salt and mix well.

Now add roasted sevai and little water. Cover the kadai with the lid and let it cook further for some mins on a medium flame.

Once the sevai becomes soft add lemon juice mix gently and off the gas burner. Garnish with fried or roasted cashews and peanuts.

Dish is ready.
