Wash and soak 1 cup masoor dal in 1 cup water for 10 -15 min

Heat oil in kadai and add cumin seeds, curry leaves. Then Crush the garlic pods and add in oil. Next add the sliced ginger. Saute it for few minutes and add the onions.

Saute the onions till they become translucent and add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt. Add the soaked masoor dal and saute for few seconds. Add water and allow it to cook. Do not cover the lid. Stir the dal in between but not continuously.

Finally add cumin seeds powder, coriander powder and mix well.

Garnish with coriander and mint leaves. Add lemon juice as required and serve warm.
