Comfort food for when I have dumplings leftover from my cream of chicken and dumplings soup. If you're making without the soup, start with just half the dumplings recipe. This makes a great side dish for dinner, but I also just make it as a quick lunch for myself sometimes, too.

Comfort food for when I have dumplings leftover from my cream of chicken and dumplings soup. If you're making without the soup, start with just half the dumplings recipe. This makes a great side dish for dinner, but I also just make it as a quick lunch for myself sometimes, too.

Ingredients

  1. Dumplings
  2. 1/2 stickbutter
  3. 1onion (sliced)
  4. 4 ozbaby bella mushrooms (sliced)
  5. 4 piecesthick sliced bacon (diced)
  6. red wine vinegar
  7. to tastesalt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Add dumplings. Fry dumplings until the outsides form a very slight light golden crust. Remove from pan and set aside in large bowl.

    Add onion, mushrooms, and bacon to pan. Saute until onions are translucent, mushrooms are dark brown, and bacon is crisping on edges.

    Add onion/mushroom/bacon mix to bowl of fried dumplings. Toss and stir to incorporate.

    Serve with red wine vinegar sprinkled over top and salt and pepper to taste.
