Chocolate Chip Scones

Hailing all the way from the north-eastern state of India, I have found the British Afternoon Tea an intriguing leisure activity. And there is non more traditional than a scone with tea. Here's my take on a bite sized scone with an addition of chocolate chip for a sweeter taste.

Hailing all the way from the north-eastern state of India, I have found the British Afternoon Tea an intriguing leisure activity. And there is non more traditional than a scone with tea. Here's my take on a bite sized scone with an addition of chocolate chip for a sweeter taste.
Steps
- 1
Sieve in your dry ingredients (Flour, Baking Powder, Corn Flour, Sugar, Salt)
- 2
Freeze your butter before hand and add into the mix. The colder the butter the better. Mix the butter into the dry ingredients until you get a texture of bread crumbs.
- 3
Beat your eggs into the milk and add it into the dry mixture. Maybe leave a little behind so that the dough does not become too wet.
- 4
Fold in the wet and dry ingredients and make sure not to over work your dough. Remember your going for a shaggy, loose, crumbly dough. Add your chocolate chips and fold them in as well. Minimize your folding frequency as the more you fold, the denser your scones will be.
- 5
Return your dough into the fridge to rest for 15 minutes
- 6
After resting, roll out your dough to around 2 centimeters thick and cut out your desired scones and place them in your baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Optional Step:- You may return your cut out scones into the fridge for 10 minutes to rest.
- 8
Brush a little egg wash on top and bake your scones in a pre-heated oven (250 C) for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy.
