Ingredients

  1. As required Oil for fry
  2. First Bowl :
  3. as required Dry Flour Mixture
  4. 1/2 cupall-purpose flour
  5. 1/2 cupgram flour (besan)
  6. 1/2 cuprice flour
  7. 2 tsppepper
  8. 1 tsponion powder
  9. 1 tspgarlic powder
  10. 1 tsporegano
  11. 3 tspsalt
  12. Second Bowl : liquid Mixture
  13. 2 tspmilk
  14. 4 tspcorn flour
  15. 2large white onion

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    In a medium bowl, combine besan flour, garlic powder, paprika, oregano,pepper, onion powder, rice flour, all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of salt and whisk well.

    For liquid add milk and cornflour in bowl and whisk well.

    On a cutting board, slice off the very top and bottom of the onion.

    Cut 8 equal slits into the onion, taking care to leave the onion attached at the root end.

    Transfer the onion lotus onto a first bowl with dry flour.

    Then Transfer the onion lotus onto a second bowl with corn flour liquid.

    Repeat this process for 3 times. Use your fingers to prod between the layers to ensure the batter soaks into the nooks and crannies of the onion.

  8. 8

    Use your fingers to prod between the layers to ensure even coverage.

  9. 9

    Fry the onion lotus for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

    Serve warm, with ketchup and ranch dressing for dipping.
