Steps

Clean the rice and Bengal gram and soak it in water

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in the pressure cooker
- 3
Add Peanut, asafoetida, cumin seeds, green chillies and ginger
- 4
Add tomatoes, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt mix well cook for 3-4 mins

Drain off the water from rice and Bengal gram and add it to the mixture in the cooker
- 6
Mix well and cook for 10 mins keep stirring so that it does not stick to the bottom of the cooker.

Add enough water (appx.7cups) so that there is a layer of 1.5 cm of water floating on top of the rice dal mixture.

Mix well and then close the cooker with it's lid. Pressure cook upto 3 whistles. Serve hot with curd and pickle.
