Steps

In the blender add all ingredients without onion and make paste.

Take each brinjal and slit it in four sides without cutting it entirely. Do not remove stalk. Keep immersed in water for about 10mins. Discard water.

Take masala paste in a bowl add chopped onion and salt as per taste and mix well.

Stuff the masala with a spoon or with your fingers as much as possible into the slitted brinjals.

Take washed and clean banana leaf and pass the leaf over low flame to make it pliable. Put the brinjal on banana leaf and cover with leaf and tie both sides as shown in picture.

Steam cook for about 10 to 15 mins.

Serve steamed brinjal with dal rice or chapatis.
