Kinako (Roasted Soy Powder) Candy

A friend of mine who works at a local sweet shop gave me a nostalgic kinako candy stick. When I tried to make it at home, I was surprised to see how easy it was. I've been making this often ever since.

You may need to adjust the amounts depending on the type of ingredients you use. If the batter appears too crumbly, add a bit of heated honey to reach desired consistency. Recipe by Yukirinrin

Steps

  1. 1

Microwave the honey in a heat-resistant glass dish for 2 minutes. Add the kinako powder to the bubbling honey and stir it in. You can also make it in a small sauce pan, without using a microwave.

  2. 2

When the batter forms a dough, dust the working surface with kinako and roll the dough into thin logs. If the dough is sticky, dust on more kinako. If the dough is too crumbly and won't stick together, add a small amount of heated honey.

  3. 3
