Basic white sauce

I learned to make this sauce from my lovely Sonia on our Cookpad zoom cooking session. White sauce or Béchamel is a standard white sauce of French cuisine. This white sauce can be use in many recipes for example lasagna, moussaka, fish pie and much more. Here is my version 🥰

Basic white sauce

Warm up your milk In microwave for 1 min or heat the milk over medium-low heat until hot.

In another saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Be patient at this point and let button melt gently as you dont want to burn your butter.

As soon as butter melts, add the flour and stir with a hand whisk until it butter and flour cooperate.

Increase the heat to medium-low and add the hot milk slowly little by little, stirring constantly with a whisk. Continue stirring all the time until the sauce begins to thicken. You can see sauce become creamy without being too thick. Try to whisk gently but consistency to get rid of al the lumps.

Seasoning in salt, pepper, and nutmeg and remove it from the heat. You can use this sauce in so many recipes for example lasagna, moussaka, thicken up your winter soup and more

Ps. After turn heat off, You can stir in the 2 egg yolks in (one at a time), and mix well to give it a rich colour and flavour but in this recipe I did add any eggs in.
