The perfect dessert to make when hosting dinners, it’s probably the easiest dessert to prepare while looking fancy enough to wow your guests! Plus, the longer they sit in the syrup the better, so it’s ideal for those who like to prep ahead.
Note:
- The original recipe calls for 2 parts liquid to 1 part sugar but I reduced the sweetness for personal preference
- Let the pears sit in the syrup overnight for better results!

Peel the pears, leaving the stem on. Cut off the bottom so they can stand when plating

Place all the ingredients except the pears in a saucepan and bring to a boil

Add pears to the saucepan and reduce to a simmer. Poach for about 45 minutes or until the pears are soft

Let the pears cool down. Meanwhile, boil the syrup until it reduces and thickens to a glaze
- 5
Serve the pears warm or cold with syrup and some cream, or even better, with crème anglaise!
