Great as a Main Dish Cheese-Filled Hashed Potatoes

It's pretty common, but I started thinking that adding cheese to hashed potatoes would taste delicious. Give this homey dish an upgrade by serving it together with salad.
After cutting the potatoes into thin slices, don't wash them. If you wash them, they won't have the starchiness needed to help stick them together when cooking. It is also important to push down on the potatoes while they are cooking.
You can use as much cheese as you want. Feel free to slice this dish into small pieces and serve it as a side. These hashed potatoes can also be great for a kid's snack. They also taste great when cold, so they're perfect for a bento! If flipping it over in the big frying pan is daunting, you can use a smaller frying pan and make 2 batches. Recipe by Puyupuyu

Steps
- 1
Use a slicer to thinly slice the potatoes and then cut into very thin strips.
- 2
Place the unwashed potatoes from Step 1 into a bowl. Combine with the shredded cheese and minced parsley (optional), and lightly season with salt and pepper.
- 3
Heat the extra virgin olive oil in the frying pan. Add Step 2 and use a spatula to push down while cooking on medium heat until nicely browned.
- 4
Once browned, flip it over and once again flatten it as it cooks until it becomes nicely browned.
- 5
To finish and add flavor, add some small pieces of butter (optional) around the edges.
- 6
Cut into pieces and serve.
