Shahi Tukda (Shahi Tukda Recipe)

Shahi Tukda is a famous dish from Old Delhi, especially from Jama Masjid. I made a few changes to the traditional recipe, but the taste remains the same.

Shahi Tukda is a famous dish from Old Delhi, especially from Jama Masjid. I made a few changes to the traditional recipe, but the taste remains the same.
Steps
- 1
In a bowl, mix cornstarch, milk, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
- 2
After the milk boils, add milk powder and cook until it thickens.
- 3
In a bowl, mix water, orange food coloring, and sugar to make a thin syrup. Spread ghee on both sides of the bread slices and toast them until golden brown.
- 4
Dip the toasted bread in the syrup, then arrange them in a deep dish to form two layers. After the first layer of bread, pour the thickened milk over it. Then add another layer of bread on top.
- 5
Pour more thickened milk over the bread. Sprinkle sliced almonds and tutti frutti on top, then let it set. After half an hour, cut and serve.
- 6
Note: I did not fry the bread, but you can fry it if you prefer.
