Cut the onion in half first and slice thinly. Slice the chikuwa thinly and diagonally.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion until soft.

Add the chikuwa and fry. Add salt, pepper and mayonnaise to season with.

Transfer onto a heat-proof dish and scatter the cheese on top. Bake in the oven until crispy browned.

This is done and serve right away.
