I wanted to make an gateau au chocolat easily without using an oven.

I made this with dark chocolate. The cake was rich. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar to your preference. Watch over the cake in the microwaving. Recipe by Hokkori-no

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 40 gramsChocolate (I used dark chocolate)
  2. 20 gramsButter
  3. 40 gramsSugar
  4. 1Egg
  5. 30 gramsPancake mix
  6. 1 tbspCocoa powder
  7. 1 dashVegetable oil
  8. 1Powdered sugar

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Put the chopped chocolate and butter in a heat resistant bowl and microwave for 1 minute at 600 W to melt.

  2. 2

Mix Step 1 with a whisk, add the sugar, egg, pancake mix and cocoa powder, and mix well.

  3. 3

Grease the silicone steamer with vegetable oil. Pour in the batter, hold the lid with both hands and tap the container against your work space to remove any air bubbles.

  4. 4

Cover with the lids and microwave for 2 minutes. Let sit and steam for 3 minutes. This was made in a small (18 x 12 cm) steamer.

  5. 5

This was made in a regular (26 x 13 cm) steamer.

  6. 6

Remove the cake from the container, cut, and serve on a plate. Sprinkle powdered sugar to taste. (If you chill the cake in the fridge, the flavors will meld and be better.

  7. 7

If you line the steamer with parchment paper instead of coating with vegetable oil, it'll be easier to remove the cake.

  8. 8

I made this in a circular steamer.
